Ruby - the July Birthstone
Ruby - the July Birthstone
What is the initial thing that arrives into your thoughts when you believe of the colour red? The initial thing that I thought of was ruby crimson. Rubies have been 1 of the most treasured and valuable gems in the world since the earliest times, preferred by
valentine gifts royalty and the wealthy via the ages. Rubies are one of only 4 precious gems naturally found on the earth, the other 3 being diamonds, sapphires and emeralds. It could be argued that the rubies are the most striking valuable gem simply because of their red color. The phrase "ruby" is derived from "ruber", the latin word for crimson.
Crimson is the color that most gets our attention. Crimson is the colour of fire, the color of life-sustaining blood, the color of beautiful sunrises and sunsets. As I started to create this page about rubies, my curiosity led me to look for more information about rubies, so on this web page I will share what I discovered. The beautiful crimson color of jewellery made from rubies an particularly great gift for Valentine's Day, Christmas or for anyone whose preferred colour is red. Because the ruby is the birthstone for July, rubies also make great presents for individuals with July birthdays.

I was shocked to learn that rubies are essentially crimson sapphires. Both rubies and sapphires are produced from the mineral Corundum and are some of the

hardest all-natural gems - only slightly softer than diamonds. Corundum is a crystalized type of aluminum which frequently contains traces of other components. If the corundum is red, it is called a ruby. If it is any other color it is regarded as a sapphire. Chromium is the component discovered in some Corundum that gives rubies their crimson color. Based on the kind and amount of other elements sapphires can be blue, purple, green or pink.
Natural Ruby and Sapphire gemstones may have their colour artificially enhanced or deepened via warmth therapy to be used as gems in jewellery.

Artificial or "created" rubies have been produced since 1837. The first synthetic rubies had been made by fusing potash alum at a high temperature. Just like natural rubies, some chromium was added as a pigment to make the crimson color. Artificial rubies are so perfect that they seldom have any imperfections that are noticeable to the naked eye. Some minor imperfections that can be noticed below magnification are intentional to make it appear more genuine. Most artificial rubies need to be examined and examined by a gemologist to determine that they were created in a laboratory.

With the melting and shrinking of the polar ice cap, a new area with rubies has been discovered which was, until recently, coated in ice and snow. Viewing the mess that is being produced of this formerly pristine region, only increased my want to steer clear of promoting natural ruby gemstones.
As sometimes happens when I begin a lens, I don't know exactly exactly where my study and ideas might direct me. Prior to I started doing some study about rubies to write this page, I thought I would instead have a natural ruby instead of a fake, "created" ruby and prepared on exhibiting only natural rubies on this page for sale. But after I discovered about the human suffering and environmental damage caused by mining rubies, I altered my thoughts. My conscience wouldn't permit me to assistance the sale of all-natural, real rubies, so all of the jewellery featured on this web page are created, artificial rubies. What do you believe?
